Pauly Shore is on the go. Not surprising to fans of his former MTV show, “Totally Pauly.”

When it premiered in 1990, Shore, known by his alter ego The Wiezel, was a frantic ball of perpetual motion — equal parts surfer clown and zen poet. He’s still tireless, these days. In between his standup comedy tour — he brings his Pauly Shore & Friends show to the Hilton Head Comedy Club on Sunday — and independent movie career, Shore runs the Comedy Store in Hollywood with his brother and has several reality TV shows in the works.

It’s no wonder, really, that The Avett Brothers were so dedicated to touring almost nonstop for so long — playing up to 200 shows a year for an extended period.

It was hitting the road, after all, that saved the band from splitting up in its infancy.

It is no coincidence that the Savannah Music Festival is the largest event of its kind in Georgia.

It is not by accident that 40 percent of the festival audiences’ travel more than 200 miles to attend.

And it doesn’t just happen that bands like The Avett Brothers, who performed at the Grammy Awards in February, are booked at this year’s 17-day event.

Ballerinas are gliding across the studio floor at the Hilton Head Dance Theatre. The young women are long and lean, the perfect body type for a craft many have been studying most of their lives. They are hard at work learning movements to “Coppélia.”

The group follows the lead of John Carlyle, the dance company’s founder and artistic director who knows a thing or two about the comedic ballet.

Music fans are certainly aware of the South by Southwest festival, held every year in Austin, Texas. Spread over 10 days, the fest features hundreds of bands and an accompanying film festival.

Inspired by SXSW, Savannah will host the inaugural Savannah Stopover Festival from Wednesday through March 12. Featuring 53 bands at 10 venues, fest organizers hope to re-create the SXSW feel. Adding to that, most of the bands participating will leave Savannah and head to Austin for SXSW. Stopover takes its name from the Hostess City’s proximity to Interstate 95 and Interstate 10.

With the way business has gone lately, Angie Aparo decided it was time to try some new ways to get his music out there. Like cartoons.

The singer/songwriter has been writing a short animated feature about a redneck alcoholic and his toy train set. It involves several inanimate objects within this miniature world that come to life and form a band to praise the drunk, whom they consider a god.
