Help Beaufort win America's Happiest Seaside Town

Beaufort is on a short list of cities and towns vying for the title of America’s Happiest Seaside Town of on 2013.
However, Beautiful Beaufort by the Bay needs your votes to beat out nine other contenders.
Coastal Living Magazine includes the city in its online contest that runs through Feb. 28. People can vote every hour until then. The winner and list, ranked by votes, will be published in the June edition.
Competition is:
• Harwich Port, Mass.
• Kennebunkport, Maine.
• La Jolla, CA
• Newport, R.I.
• Paia Town, Maui, Hawaii
• Pescadero, Calif.
• Rowayton, Conn.
• Sag Harbor, N.Y.
• Sanibel Island, Fla.
The website’s description of Beaufort:
Nestled along the Intracoastal Waterway, Beaufort (with 12,534 locals) sits in the heart of the Sea Islands and Lowcountry, with much of its historic antebellum architecture intact.
As of Thursday night, Beaufort was leading the list, according to a bar graph that did not include numbers. Sag Harbor and Harwich Port had the next-most votes.
The towns were chosen using data from Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index, percentage of sunny days, healthiness of beaches, commute times, walkability, standard of living and financial well-being of the locals, geographic diversity, and an editorial assessment of “coastal vibe,” according to a press release.
Votes can be made online at America’s Happiest Seaside Towns or by smartphone by downloading the free Digimarc Discover app and scanning the image of Beaufort in the February 2013 issue of Coastal Living.
