These exercises, though entertaining, are also meant to teach participants in the Citizen’s Police Academy about the day-to-day of police work.
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office is hosting the Citizen’s Police Academy for its 30th session with classes scheduled for Beaufort and Hilton Head Island this September.
The 10-week class covers topics from drug enforcement to the budget process.
Participants also experience hands-on demonstrations while in the academy, which meets for 3-hour classes once a week during the session.
The Beaufort class begins from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sept. 4 at the Sheriff’s Office on 2001 Duke Street. The Hilton Head Island class is from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sept. 6 at Technical College of the Lowcountry.
