Course to prepare entrepreneurs
The Technical College of the Lowcountry published the following news release:
The Technical College of the Lowcountry and the Agape Family Life Center have partnered to sponsor a FastTrac® New Venture course that will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays, April 20 through June 22, at the Agape Family Life Center, 5855 South Okatie Highway, Hardeeville. Cost is $50 per student.

Public invited to review textbooks
The public is invited to review textbooks and instructional materials that have been proposed for use in South Carolina’s public schools, according to a news release from the S.C. Department of Education.
The materials will be recommended to the State Board of Education for adoption April 14 and are available for public review at several state colleges, including the University of South Carolina Beaufort campus in Bluffton.
The materials are in the following subject areas:
• Advanced Placement Computer Science
• Advanced Placement Economics
• Anatomy and Physiology
• Astronomy

TCL to offer course on traveling abroad
The Technical College of the Lowcountry announced in a news release it will offer a course on traveling abroad Saturday, March 26:
The Technical College of the Lowcountry Life Enrichment Center will offer “How to Travel Abroad” from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, March 26 at TCL’s Beaufort campus. Cost is $49 per person and advanced registration is required.
Mary Ann Haloda will teach the course, giving participants the information and tools necessary to begin their own dynamic journey abroad on a budget.

Hilton Head Prep students to show off science projects
Top science students from Hilton Head Preparatory School will showcase their science fair projects during a public event at the Hilton Head public library this week.
“Bright Light Science Night” will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Refreshments will be served.
Presenters include, according to a news release from the school:
• Reid D’Amico: “A comparison of thelypteris kunthii, Bambusa multiplex, and Microstegium vimineum on the Voltage Produced by a Plant Microbial Fuel Cell”

The Technical College of the Lowcountry Foundation is accepting scholarship applications until 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 19 for the upcoming summer semester. Summer classes start May 23.
