Local tennis mixed doubles team qualifies for national event
As the run gets more and more impressive for the Wexford Dream Team, its captain, Cal Navis, continues to be more amazed - a fitting reaction.
The team's initial season goal was to simply qualify for the USTA League South Carolina Mixed Doubles Championship with a good season in the Hilton Head Island league.
How modest that achievement seems now.

PALIN: STILL! WOEFULLY IGNORANT ON THE SUBJECT OF VP (WATCH)
"Yesterday, Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) sat for an interview with KUSA, an NBC affiliate in Colorado. In response to a question sent to the network by a third grader at a local elementary school about what the Vice President does, Palin erroneously argued that the Vice President is "in charge of the United States Senate":..."

MCCAIN & PALIN: SOCIALISTS? LIARS?
One minute John McCain is calling Barack Obama a socialist. The next minute he's suggesting the federal government should buy up distressed mortgages at inflated prices to save home owners from their bad investments. Guess what John? That's a little bit of socialism right there.

OBAMA AND YOUR TAXES: THE TRUTH
Even though Barack Obama has proposed a $1,000 tax cut for middle-class families, shadowy smear mongers are pushing misleading rumors about Barack's tax policies.

Re ANNEVILLA and CAPS
This will be the first, last, and only time I address/respond to this subject:
All caps are not necessarily my taste; they are, however, a form of expression I have chosen for what I feel to be a very good reason at a very pertinent time.
For the record, 5 things:
1) My real name is not Ms. Spam.
2) I am neither a hack nor employed to post: it is entirely my own personal decision and choice. (not that, with the economy in such a shambles, I couldn't use the extra money :-).

Loyal readers of the FootBlog know I told you last night was "do or die" time for some local teams and their playoff hopes, and well ... some did, and some died.
Hilton Head Prep and Battery Creek made sure their vital signs are in good shape with key wins at home, while Bluffton and Thomas Heyward took a turn for the worse by losing must-win games.
So how healthy are your favorite team's playoff hopes? The FootBlog isn't a doctor, but it did stay in a Holiday Inn Express one time, so here's the diagnosis:
Clean bill of health

If you have never eaten a pierogi, if you have never explored the magnificent taste combinations that arise when you weld a doughy dumpling to the important parts of a potato, then all I can say is that I weep for you. I weep for you nightly.

OBAMA PALLING AROUND WITH TERRORISTS? (From Associated Press)
Analysis: Palin's words carry racial tinge

Palin Attacks Obama on 'Palling Around with Terrorists'
WASHINGTON (AP) - By claiming that Democrat Barack Obama is "palling around with terrorists" and doesn't see the U.S. like other Americans, vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin targeted key goals for a faltering campaign.
And though she may have scored a political hit each time, her attack was unsubstantiated and carried a racially tinged subtext that John McCain himself may come to regret.
