We’re running a correction in Saturday’s newspaper (July 7) because James Foster finished 10th overall and won the 25-29-year-old division in the 27th annual Firecracker 5000 Family 5K Run on Wednesday, July 4 at Shelter Cove Community Park on Hilton Head Island.

Only, he didn’t.

Other voices on Furman Bisher

Furman Bisher died Sunday. For those that don't know who he was, he wrote for the Atlanta Journal and Constitution for more than 50 years and he was one of the greatest to ever write a sports story.

I grew up near Atlanta and can remember reading Bisher when I was as young as 7 or 8. I read the sports section religiously. Before they combined, we got the Journal in the afternoons and the morning Journal-Constitution on the weekends.
