City Council to hold public hearing on day dock, marina proposal
Residents get another opportunity Tuesday night to chime in on the proposed day dock and marina expansion for downtown Beaufort.
City Council meets for a work session at 5 p.m. in the Planning Conference Room, City Hall, 1911 Boundary Street. The session will include committee interviews, discussions with the chairmen of the Redevelopment and Metropolitan Planning commissions and discussions about Basil Green Recreational Complex, re-establishing the tree fund, city ownership of Pilot Street and about Hay Street and Depot Road.

Committee reviewing form-based code takes first steps
Beaufort is launching an effort to define how the city will grow and look, and a 20-member committee and city officials are grappling with how to turn 400-plus pages of complicated code into clear, practical direction.
The proposed code would concentrate more on building appearance than use.
Craig Lewis of the city’s Office of Civic Investment said plans are in place to better keep residents informed of discussions about the code and projects, including improved online access to documents and updated contact information.
