Time to say goodbye: Remy's Final Bash is Feb. 22
An island institution is about to close down. Remy's Final Bash is Friday (Feb. 22). The last official day is Feb. 28. It's the end of an era, but they're planning on doing it up big one last time.
The Final Bash starts at 4 p.m. with Sterlin & Shuvette, then continues with The Simpson Brothers at 5 p.m., White Liquor at 7 p.m. and Silicone Sister at 10:30 p.m.

Hugo's Seafood & Steakhouse wins Restaurant Week people's choice award
Hugo's has been winning big lately, and now their success continues with Restaurant Week.
Last year, to liven things up a bit, the Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Chamber of Commerce instituted a people's choice award during the annual Restaurant Week. Attendees of the chamber's event -- where more than 60 restaurants offer fixed-price menus to help drum up business in the off-season -- also get to vote on what restaurant had the best deal.

Here we go again: Another frozen yogurt shop set to open on Hilton Head
UPDATE: Yo Addiction is set to open March 24.
Ok, this is getting crazy. Just found out that what could be the sixth self-serve frozen yogurt shop is coming to the area. Yo Addiction is going in near Fresh Market on Hilton Head in the old Cold Stone Creamery spot.
No word yet on when it is opening, so follow them here on Facebook.

Discover the best wines at the Hilton Head Wine & Food Festival

The Hilton Head Island Wine & Food Festival is more than a month away (March 4-9), but the winners have already been announced.
The International Wine Judging & Competition was held earlier this week at the Hilton Head Marriott Resort & Spa. Two dozen judges tasted more than 670 wines that were entered into the contest from all around the world. From that, they culled the best of the best.

Scenes from the Lowcountry Soup Challenge

I was lucky enough to be a judge at the Lowcountry Soup Challenge yesterday to benefit Volunteers in Medicine. We went through 22 soups -- never thought it'd be possible to get stuffed on soup.
But it produced quite a few memorable selections, such as the black bean soup (pictured to the right) that won second place for Celebrations catering.

Seats still available for Saltus' benefit dinner for the Beaufort film fest

"Saltus River Grill, located in Historic Downtown Beaufort, SC, will host its Third Annual Wine Dinner Benefiting The Beaufort International Film Festival (BIFF) on Thursday, January 24. A cocktail hour will begin at 6 p.m. with remarks from Beaufort Film Society Executive Director Ron Tucker, followed by a four-course dinner prepared by Saltus Executive Chef Brian Waters. The dinner is available for $50 per person, with $10 per paid ticket benefiting BIFF. Reservations may be made by calling (843) 379-3474. A menu is available at www.saltusrivergrill.com."

Big changes in store for Remy's
UPDATE: More details in today's story.
It appears the Remy's as we've known it is about to close down. The Hilton Head bar and restaurant has been around for nearly 30 years in various spots, but its current location off Arrow Road is only going to be used for special events, according to its Facebook page.
