The Hilton Head Island Wine & Food Festival is right around the corner. The festivities start March 4 with a series of wine dinners at local restaurants. But the main event is March 9 at the Coastal Discovery Museum.
The Final Bash starts at 4 p.m. with Sterlin & Shuvette, then continues with The Simpson Brothers at 5 p.m., White Liquor at 7 p.m. and Silicone Sister at 10:30 p.m.

Attendees of the chamber's event -- where more than 60 restaurants offer fixed-price menus to help drum up business in the off-season -- also get to vote on what restaurant had the best deal.

But it produced quite a few memorable selections, such as the black bean soup (pictured to the right) that won second place for Celebrations catering.
Here are some of the best we tasted.

It appears the Remy's as we've known it is about to close down. The Hilton Head bar and restaurant has been around for nearly 30 years in various spots, but its current location off Arrow Road is only going to be used for special events, according to its Facebook page.
