Students at the Royal Live Oaks Academy of Arts and Sciences will now start school about a week later than planned.
The school decided to push back its original Aug. 14 start date after hearing from parents concerned about recent rains and high temperatures. The rains have slowed down preparation at the school's Hardeeville campus, according to an email from school officials.
An open house will be held from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the school. The first day of school will be Aug. 20. Weather permitting, it will feature indoor and outdoor events.
