The inaugural Hilton Head Island Taste of Summer Craft Beer Festival runs from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday (May 19) at Shelter Cove Harbour. More than 60 craft beers are going to be served so be prepared. In today's paper, we broke down some of the summer seasonals. But I was scanning the list and came across a few others that sound quite tasty.
Take a look at the list yourself and let me know what other ones stand out.
Palmetto Brewing Co. Ginger Slap -- I talked a bit about this in the story today, but I wanted to point out that this is a brand new beer from Charleston's Palmetto Brewing. From what I'm told, it's got an interesting ginger bite to it.
New South Brewery White Ale -- I wanted to get in touch with the New South folks up in Myrtle Beach to talk to them about their White Ale but couldn't track them down. They call it an American take on a Belgian wheat ale (Hoegarden, Allagash White).
Fort Collins Brewing Major Tom's Pomegranate Wheat -- Never tried a pomegranate beer before. But when someone simply describes it as "BAZINGA!!!" you just have to check it out.
Angry Orchard Hard Cider -- A good selection of ciders are going to be available (the Ace Ciders sound promising), but I'm curious about this one. It's from the Boston Beer Co. aka the Sam Adams people. It's just recently rolled out nationwide.
Black Sheep Brewing Holy Grail Ale -- Have yet to get my hands on this English ale, a tribute to Monty Python. The experts at BeerAdvocate say it's more than just a marketing gimmick.
Piggly Wiggly's Pig Swig -- For some reason, I've always wanted to try this. No clue how good it is. However, it is made by Thomas Creek Brewing in Greenville so that's reassuring.
