Port Royal's Union Church gets National Historic Site plaque

Posted in

Port Royalites will have a lot to celebrate April 27 during the unveiling of a plaque designating Union Church as a National Historic Site.
Resident and photographer Jane Abrams will reveal a gallery of photos of Union Church, Porter Church and the Cypress Wetlands.
Those photos will be for sale, and proceeds will go to the Historic Port Royal Foundation. The foundation recently regained nonprofit status and is kicking off fundraising so members can replace windows at Union Church, a project that could be expensive because period-appropriate glass will probably be needed, President Anna Ellerbe said.
The free event starts at 6:30 p.m. at the church, 1004 11th St. For information, call 843-524-4333 or 843-522-9923.
