Two of the participants in the upcoming TV series “Heavy,” which was partially filmed on Hilton Head Island, are scheduled to appear on ABC’s “Good Morning America” on Friday.
The participants — listed on the show’s website as Ronnie, a 45-year-old garbage truck driver from Dallas, Ga.., and Jill, a 35-year-old second-grade teacher from Gainesville, Ga. — are tentatively scheduled to appear about 8 a.m., according to officials at Hilton Head Health, one of two weight-loss centers where the series was filmed.
The series, also shot at a similar center in Texas, shows how 22 participants from around the country — ranging in age from 20 to 59 and weighing between 240 and 630 pounds — combined to lose more than 2,440 pounds. Half the participants shed more than 30 percent of their body mass.
The series premiere is scheduled for 10 p.m. Monday on A&E.
Viewers of the series’ 11 episodes — each of which chronicles two participants’ experiences — should catch glimpses of the Lowcountry as they watch 12 of the participants spend six months in Hilton Head Health’s program.
The program features five to six hours of fitness activity a day, as well as cooking demonstrations and classes in nutrition, stress management and behavior modification.
