She graduated from the University of Missouri and previously worked at a local news website in suburban St. Louis. | The Beaufort-Jasper Academy for Career Excellence will host more than 900 students from local schools at its annual Fourth-Grade Career Carnival this week and next.
The Education and Economic Development Act of 2005 mandates elementary school students be exposed to different career opportunities, said Geri Henderson, a school-to-career director for ACE.
The EEDA law is designed to give South Carolina students the tools they need to build successful careers, including career and technical courses.
The Career Carnival will raise awareness of the different career opportunities offered at ACE, Henderson said.
The following schools will participate:
• Nov. 4: Ridgeland Elementary, Okatie Elementary and Broad River Elementary.
• Nov. 6: Port Royal Elementary, Step of Faith Christian Academy, Shell Point Elementary and Hilton Head Island elementary schools.
• Nov. 10: Hardeeville Elementary, Mossy Oaks Elementary and M.C. Riley Elementary.
