Your dog could be the next calendar girl (or boy)

If your heart skips a beat at the thought of your precious pup on the pages of a calendar, your time has come.

The Island Packet and The Beaufort Gazette are again publishing a pet calendar featuring local dogs, cats and other pets (past entrants have included parrots and guinea pigs, too). The cost to enter a pet is $25. Readers vote for their favorite animals, and 12 winners are professionally photographed for the glossy calendar. Votes are 25 cents each, with a minimum of $5.

The Island Packet and The Beaufort Gazette will donate pet calendars to the Hilton Head Humane Association, Palmetto Animal League and The Humane Association of the Lowcountry to be used as a fundraiser. All calendar sales benefit the individual organizations that sell the calendar.

For complete contest rules and details on how to enter, go to www2.islandpacket.com/forms/petcontest.

(The photo with this post is of Millie LaRue, a Yorkshire terrier belonging to Darsey Mitchell of Hilton Head Island. Sadly, Millie isn't eligible for the calendar contest since her brother, Paul, works at the Packet. You still get The Pack's vote, Sailor Millie!)
